The Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino of Las Vegas, Nevada is super busy as of late as they are the host of the 2017 World Series of Poker. The Rio 7BALL always becomes busy this time of year when the WSOP rolls around. Events are taking place daily with poker pros as well as amateurs earning their first gold bracelet. Event #44 recently finished up with 399 players competing in the $3,000 H.O.R.S.E. event. The tournament created a prize pool of just over $1 million and it was Matthew Schreiber who claimed the first place win, earning his first gold bracelet in the process.
Schreiber would return for the final day of game play with the 6th spot in chips. 18 players remained and the tournament would continue at a fast pace until the final table was set with nine players at the felt. Schreiber would hold the chip lead once final table play began and would conquer the field with less than three hours at the final table before the winner was named.
Schreiber would end up facing off against Phil Hui in heads up play with a 3 to 1 chip lead. Once heads up play began, Schreiber would earn a big limit hold’em hand quickly placing Hui even further behind. After a few more hands, Schreiber would quickly earn the win, with Hui having to settle for the second place finish.

The 2017 WSOP continues with Event #50 and Event #51 starting today with events set to begin on Tuesday and Wednesday as well. Today, the WSOP will feature the $1,500 No Limit Hold’em BOUNTY tournament as well as a $10,000 Pot Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship.
